Winter and Summer Sailings
Plan a winter crossing around the Ferry Tokashiki, which from October to the end of February leaves Tomari Port at ten in the morning and heads back from Tokashiki Port at half past three in the afternoon. From March to September the return ferry leaves Tokashiki Port later, at four in the afternoon.

Take the Marine Liner Tokashiki for an earlier start, with its first sailing leaving Tomari Port at nine in the morning. In winter the second high-speed boat back leaves Tokashiki Port at five in the evening.
- If you want to book ahead, booking opens on the same date two months before the sailing.
- Buy your ticket at least thirty minutes before departure, and go aboard by ten minutes before the boat leaves.
- Expect boarding to start thirty minutes before departure on the high-speed boat and an hour before departure on the car ferry.
- If you arrive at the north quay of Tomari Port, the ticket window in front of the high-speed boat also sells Marine Liner Tokashiki tickets from an hour before departure.
Fares, Tax and Cash on the Island
Budget one hundred yen more for each passenger of high school age or older, which is the environmental cooperation tax collected on either boat.
- If you buy a round trip on Ferry Tokashiki, the adult fare is four thousand one hundred eighty yen.
- If you buy a round trip on Marine Liner Tokashiki, the adult fare is six thousand two hundred seventy yen.
- If you travel with children, the child fare on Ferry Tokashiki is one thousand one hundred yen one way and two thousand ninety yen round trip.
Plan cash around the post office ATM, which is closed on Sundays and public holidays.

Getting Around the Island
Ride the village sightseeing bus to Aharen Beach for four hundred yen an adult one way. A child pays two hundred yen for the same ride.

Bus departures from Tokashiki Port include a run at half past eleven in the morning. While you wait, the passenger building by the port has a waiting room, two hundred chairs and toilets.
When swimming monitors are on duty at Aharen Beach and Tokashiku Beach, their hours are nine in the morning to six in the evening. Wear a life jacket when you snorkel inside the monitored area.
Rough Seas and Cancelled Sailings
Allow for cancellations: the Marine Liner Tokashiki may be cancelled when waves reach three metres or more, and the Ferry Tokashiki when they reach four metres or more.
A ticket for a cancelled sailing can be refunded. A booking on a cancelled sailing is treated as cancelled without any need to get in touch, and anyone switching to a later sailing books again.
Aharen's Lookout and Local Notes
Climb the walking path up the hill at Kubandaki from the east side to reach the lookout at the summit. Kubandaki is a cape pushing southwest from the coast just west of Aharen Beach, and the hill at its centre stands twenty-seven metres high. Kuba palms grow thickly on Kuba hill behind the cape.

Do not smoke on the beach. Keep away from sea turtles instead of chasing them, even if you spot one. Avoid standing on the coral as well.
Camping and Overnight Stays
- If you bring a tent, the Aharen campsite charges five hundred yen a night for an adult.
- If a child camps with you, the rate is two hundred fifty yen a night.
- If you want a shower, the campsite behind the bus stop charges three hundred yen.
